The second Tadra orphanage was built in 2005 in Golok. The living conditions are harsher than in Kham. At an average altitude of 13,000 feet, with sparse vegetation and sub-freezing conditions in the winter, the harsh conditions claim the lives of many orphans and abandoned children in the region.
